Jardine, solicitor, acknowledging receipt of a resolution to pass a special order for the sale of the tram line to Messrs Stewart and Hunt. From W. J. W, Bull, asking for N. Bull's name to be placed on rate roll for section No. 10, in the township of Campbelltown. From R. H. McMillan, Taikorea, complaining of tho bad state of the road from the schoolhouse down to his house. From Linwood Borough Council, sending a circular as their suggestions for a solution of the " unemployed " problem. A petition was received from Campbelltown settlers praying that a public pound should ne erected, as it was very inconvenient to go to Sanson for their stock. The matter was held over until next meeting to be considered. Proposed by Cr Strang, seconded by Cr Masters, That the applications for the transfer of sections 141, 142, 147, Te Kawau Survey District from J. Deßoles to W. Orr, section 10, Campbelltown Township, from W. Bull to A. E. Bull, and section 109, Campbelltown, from W. Bull to N. Turner be granted. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Ransom, seconded by Cr Hammond, That the letter of A. E. Bull re sand be referred to the overseer, and that he direct him where to obtain it. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Robinson, seconded by Cr Strang, That Cr Wilson be granted leave of absence from this meeting.— Carried. Proposed by Cr Taylor, seconded by Cr Hammond, That as the Government have placed a considerable tax on this Council in requiring it to make and pay for its own assessment, and as at present time we haye a very large overdraft, the Government be respectfully requested to bear a fair proportion of the cost of assessment, in addition to offer of lists and maps as contained in circular letter received, which said letter has the approval of this Council, and that a copy of this resolution ' Jr forwarded to the Commissioner of Taxes, and also to the member for the district.— Carried. Proposed by Cr Robinson, seconded by Cr Hammond, That the overseer attend to the Taikorea road complained of by Mr McMillan. — Carried. by Cr Taylor, seconded "▼fc "Or Hammond, That the tender j of J . ing the special order for selling the tramway, and the following resolution was carried !— Proposed by Cr Ransom, seconded hy Cr T.aylbr, That the sbe&al order thade 6b Augiist Bth sfellib** the Sandon-Car-narvon Tramway to Messrs Stewart and Hunt be now confirmed, and that the chairman and Cr Hammond sigp and seal the agreement. The Council resumed its ordinary Dii..ihes-. Proposed by Cr Ransom, seconded by Cr Strang, That the overseer prepare specifications, and call for tenders for formation of streets in Cah-pbelltotvni same to ,be in by n oon of next meeting of Council.— Carried. Proposed by Cr Masters, seconded by Cr Robinson, That a special meeting be held on October 10th for the purpose of making a special order to strike a rate of three-eighths pf a .pefany .iti the . k for . the McDoneil spe.ial ratihg district.— Carried. Proposed by Cr Strang, sconded by Cr Robinson, That tenders be called ito he in by next meeting of the Council) for forming 110 chains on tlie Shani-bn-Moutoa road; alsti _orhi|tjg ailti biayii-g 3(j chaitis oh the Moutoa-1-oxton road, according to the overseer's specifications. Also that tenders be called for the leasing oi the Shannon ferry for the year. — Catrieth The accounts were passed for payment and the Council adjourned to the 10th October.
