Opening of the New Shops.
+ On Saturday Messrs Loveday Bros, opened for business in their new premises in Main-street, reerected in place of those destroyed by fire in February last. The shop is thirty feet deep by twenty-four wide, and is entered by a glass panelled door, flanked by double windows, in which are displayed the choice samples of the goods in stock within. The counters are of panelled red pine. The stock comprises all . (be newest fashions in ladies dress goods, jackets and millinery, and olotbing and mercery for the men. On Friday night Mr Eure the courteous manager, with his assistant, made a pleasing show in the windows, which were excellently lighted, of the stock prior to opening on the next morning which attracted a large and interested crowd, who wisely took the hint and paid an early visit on the following day, with the effect of clearing out some of the choicest lines which however will be renewed by the next boat. We understand that the removal to these central and old established quarters has resulted in a marked improved business, and the assistants have been kept exceedingly busy during the short time they have been opened in them. We can honestly recommend a visit and feel sure that much satisfaction will bo gained, as Mr Eure has now more room to open up his valuable stock, so that the goods can be seen to better advantage and handier reached, and the premises are more oominodious for customers, and very well lighted. Joe Tos also made a display on Friday night in his new shop, ad**joining Messrs Loveday's. The shop is the same in every particular as its neighbour. On Saturday the premises were opened and he finds that the position is much in favour ot increased trnde.
