Foxton Racing Club.

Pbesjdent : F. Robinson. Vick-President : E. S. Thynne. Judge : H. F. Davidson. Stewards and Committee : T. P. Williams, J. H. Robinson, W. B. Rhodes, J. R. Whyfce, J. Ahem, P. Dudson, S. Trask, W. T. Little, A. Strang, J. Davies. Handicapper: John Coyle. Clerk of Scales: George Gray. Clerk op Course : F. R. Young. Hon. Treasurer : Walter G. Robinson. Timekeeper : A. E. T. Nixon. Starter : H. Gillies. The Foxton Racing Club were favoured yesterday with another beautiful day for their race-meeting, and with a large attendance, it being reckoned that there were over 700 persona present. The ladies again graced the meeting with their presence, and, as is now getting a usual occurrence there were a large number of vehicles drawn up alongside the rails oppossite the lawn. The Grand Stand, and Stewards' room were gay with flags, which a gentle breeze fully displayed. The course was in first-class condition, and the only slight accident that occurred all day was the falling over of, Sydney in the first race. The racing wag very good, three races being closely contested and quite undecided until the post was reached. The fields were small from a variety of reasons though the acceptances- htfd been fair, but it apparently very little interfered with the investments, -as I £2070 was put through the totalisator during the day. The Feilding Brass Band is to be congratulated on its playing and also upon its faithfully carrying out the programme published, a point which could not be said of some past bands. The Honorory Secretary, Mr J. R. McMillan, worked hard as usual and he must be highly satisfied with the result of his exertions, as the visitors expressed themselves highly pleased with their treatment and no protest or complaint of any sort marred the day. Mr Alf. Frasei' acted as Mr McMillan's assistant, and won the favourable opinion of all who came came into contact with him by his courtesy and attention. Mr George Gray officiated at the scales and thus ' there was no bother. Mr W. Trask made an efficient Clerk of the Course and in one instanoe showed good determination in turning off the course two foolish young men, who mounted on horses, appeared desirous of taking an unauthorised part in a race. Mr Davidson filled the office of Judge, with his usual calm j manner, and though he had some very close finishes to deoide, there was no hesitation in accepting his decision. Mr Gillies, the Starter for the club, introduced, the first thing, Mr Gilpin, . the starter of the Hawkes Bay Olub, and sought per* mission to allow him to act in his place, which under the circumstances, was agreed to. Mr Gilpin showed that he was a very efficient starter and the olub and owners had no reason to complain of the exchange. There were many means for visitors to divest themselves of spare cash upon the course, but all went along pleasantly and the police had no trouble. The club have again to congratulate themselves on their efforts to provide a pleasant day's sport, and it is probable the result will show a profit from £25 to £80.
