Strange Recovery of a Derelict Ship.
The Norwegian barque Elsa Anderson is reported to have arrived at Galveston in January, having in tow the hull of an English- built brig, which had apparently been burned j at sea more than 50 years ago, and which appeared on the surface of the ocean after a submarine disturbance off the Faroe Island?. The hull of th» derelict was covered with sea ghells ; but the hold and under decks contained very little water. In the captain's berth were found several i»n-bdtind chests, the contents of which had. t been reduced to pulp, except a leather bag, which required a n »xc to open it. In it were guineas bearing date 1809, and worth £1,000. There were also several watches and a stomacher of pearls, blackened and rendered valueless by the action of the water. Three^keletonß were also found. one 0} a man nearly seven feet bifb.
