The Garden Party.
The garden party given by Mr and Mrs Tbynne on Tuesday afternoon proved a great success, fully 150 persons of all ages being present. The gates were open at two and for an hour and a half there were constantly arriving visitors, these wended their way to the lawn and snuglit seats placed under the shad of the trees. Two tents had been erected in th? ifanlea, and a supply of light refreshments, apples, and tea. we c dispensed by Miss Thy -me and the Misses Wiis.m and C Sytnons, who in turn were ably assisted by the young men. Afcer a time parties were made up who went for a walk through the orchard. A piano was placed on the verandah of the house and an afternoon concert was held. Tennis occupied the attention of many of the visitors, whilst the boys were much struck with Aunt Sally. Qioits ami romidt'is al-i f und atten i >n. The band was not present, a drum being required, and though the Salvation Army was approached for tho loan of that instrument it was Dot obtained, &• the officers objected to
