Fortune Telling.

The business of a fortune teller in France is not a bad one, it would appear, if one may judge from the carefully kept books of a Mine. Legrand, she carried on the business ab Mulins. Although the town is not a very large ona she succeeded in making over 10,000 francs in less than six month?, and her career of prosperity might have gone on unchecked if she had not persuaded one of her clients to sign a bill for 1000 francs, and another for 500 francs - a line of conduct which brought her in collision with the law. It may be noted that professional jealousy prevails even amongst the Soothsayers, and they no longer grin at each other as they did in old Rome. Amongst her correspondence was found a letter from a rival who said that he had seen in a local paper that Mme. Legrand claimed to have predicted the death of General Boulanger, and also claimed to have been instrumentaljjin the recovery of a child stolen at the Exhibition of 1889. The writer did not mind the mention of the child but he objected strongly to any mention of General Boulanger, and should take proceedings against her if she did not deny that she had " Lipped " the General's death. The letter added that two fortune tellers who had " usurped the horoscope " had already had to withdraw their statements. The signature at the foot of this strange communication was " Siennamota Maghdim."
