John Bull's Lucky Investment.
-* Attention has been invited by Sir Ellis Ashmead Bartlett in Parliament and in the public press to the fact that the value of the Suez Canal shares — purchased by Lord Beaconsfield in 1875 for £4,000,000 ; are now worth upwards of £17,750,000 ; that of the purchase money the whole has been repaid to the British Exchequer by the Egyptian Government except £100,000 ; and that in 1895 the British nation will possess a magnificient property which will not have cost them a farthing ; and which, at the rate of interest recently paid be maintained, will bring into the British Treasury an income of £000,000 a year.
