CORRESPONDENCE.
Weave not responsible for the statement* or opinions of correspondents. TO THE EDITOR OF THE MAKAWATV HERALD. Sir,— Knowing that youv columns ara open to justice and truthfulness, 1 take the liberty of correcting a false t statement which appears to have been .circulated—, whether by an interested party, or parties -^-X leave the- public to -form their own opinion. The report is thisr— viz, t- That my charges for the use of my hearse are. three, pouqdos This ia.calculated, to leave a false, impression, as the most I "have ever charged is two pounds, including horse and driver, and I have never refused' to • let it for one pound, whioh latter amount Mr Jonson is reported to have offered me, and lam supposed to have refused. This I emphatically deny, as Mr Jonson has never spoken to me about the hearse since it was built. While it was being built he asked me, and I jocularly slated that the price would he three pounds and downwards. — I am, iVc, E. P. OSBQUNK, .Undertaker.
