Death of Mr R. W. Cawston.

« Every townsman yesterday morning heard with sincere feelings of regret that one of their number, Mr Robert Cawston, the licensee of the Manawatn Hotel, had expired, most unexpectedly on the previous night. The immediate cause of death was heart disease, and though the deceased had only retired to bed in the afternoon of the day he died, yet as Dr Dermer, his medical attendant was satisfied as to the cause, the Coroner did not deem it necessary to hold an inquest. Mr Cawston arrived in the district and took charge of the Manawatu Hotel in December 1890, and he has since conducted the business in a most respectable manner He was a native of London and has been in the colony 30 years. For two years he was a resident of Carterton where he kept the Royal Oak Hotel, from which place he came here. In his many relations of life the deceased won the good opinions of all, he was a good husband, kind father, and upright business man. His face will be mnch missed as he was no one's enemy. His life was insured in the A.M.P. for £800. He .leaves .a, widow and- family , of one son and two daughters, the eldest being only 12 years. To his widow and family we tender our respectful condolencies. The funeral is to take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock.
