Foxton Cricket Club.
« There was quite a large attendance of the British public on Mr Stansell'g gronnd on Tuesday afternoon to witness the match Married v. Single, and some excellent cricket was exhibited. The 1 earns were captained by Mr W Ingram and Mr J. Dndson. Only one innings could be played, owing to the approach of dusk, but so far Jngram's team have much the best of it, having compiled a creditable score of 106 to their opponents' 48. The match, to which several trophies are attached, is to be played out on Tuesday next. So far as present appearances go, the Singles seem to be like the fellows who fell out of a baloon — they are simply " not in it." But cricket is noted for its surprises, and on Tuesday next they may " astonish the visitors." We shall be pleased to publish the scores on the conclusion of the match.
