Woman Franchise Passed Yesterday.

On the House of Representatives meeting at 2.30 p.m. yesterday .

The Premier moved that the amendments made by the Legislative Council in the Electoral Bill be agreed to. (Applause.) The first change was the addition of certain words to the paragraph defining 1 master ' in the interpretation clause, so that/that term would mean any person in charge of a vessel used in navigation. A new proviso which "was material had been added to clause 21 ; it enabled the compiling and printing of the rolls betore a dissolution or expiration of Parliament. In the fifteenth schedule, Eden had been replaced amongst the list of districts in which the polls would be open till 7 o'clock. Mr Buckland opposed the extension of the hour of clpsipg the polls in the Eden electorate till 7 o'clock.

The Hon. W. Rolle3tou said that this chaDge was agreed to by Mr Mitchelson.

Mr Pish was surprised that there should be so little debate upon this most important Bill, and that at least Sir John Hall had no* had the courtesy to stand up and tbauk the Government for having falsified the predictions which he and others had been making during the last few days as to what was to be done with thig Bill. Ho wished now to fflake a fina' protest against the measure. The Speaker ruled that the mom^ ber for Dunndin could only discuss the amendments and not the whole merits of the Bill.

The question 'That the amendments be agreed to/ was then put and carried on the voices, the resolution being followed by a round of applause. —N.Z Times.
