The French Government threatens to send gunboats to Bangkok again unless granted the control of public works in the province of Battam bong. The French are erecting earthworks at Chantabun, The trade of Bangkok is still unseltled. It is believed in Calcutta that France is seeking to drive Siam to an overt action as one excuse for proclaiming a protectorate over the country. The Paris newspapers are assuming a bellicose tone towards England in connection with Siam.
