The annual meeting of Allsoppa and Co. was again of a noisy character, in consequence of no dividend being available for the ordinary shareholders, though the profits showed an increase, The scheme of reconstruction of Goldsbroiigb, Mort and Co. is virtually unopposed. The Committee appointud by the creditors and shareholders are not in favour of the proposed transfer of the head office to London. . Half a million in gold has been despatched to New York, and a million more goes on Friday. - The London Bank of \ustralasia is registered with a capital of four millions. In the House of Commons, Mr Macartney moved an amendment to the Home Rule Bill^imilar to .that of Mr Balfour, which was struck put on Monday owing to the absence of the latter. The debate has been adjourned. The Government accepted an amendment compelling members of the Irish Legislature to take the oath of allegiance,^ and -another amendment excluding priests from sitting in Parliament. In the Home Rule debate, Mr Chamberlain made a violent attack on Mr Gladstone for* retaining the Irish members in the Imperial Par - liament. . The Premier frequently interrupted him, and refused to admit the accuracy of quotations from previous speeches. The convention of Parnellites in Dublin passed a resolution that no f ßi|l would be acceptable which , did t conditions which Mr Parnell demanded in 1891, and that no settlement could be considered final until the prisoners now in confinemet»t were amnestied, and the \ claifcni of evicted tenants satisfied.
