London.
The Conservatives will propose 44 new clauses when the Home Rule Bill is reported from the Committee. Twenty thousand people attended a meeting at Liverpool, and passed resolutions protesting against the I Government permitting the Irish members to dominate the House of Commons and stifle the debate on the Home Rule Bill. Four timber yards in Liverpool have been burned, The damage is estimated at £180,000. The New Zealand Land Association (Limited) has received the following message by cable from its London office, dated 4th instant : — j Frozen meats — The mutton market is dull. Wellington mutton is worth BJd per. lb, but other quotations are unchanged. The lamb market is weak, and prime New Zealand lamb is worth per carcase 4fd per lb. Tallow — Tallow is dull of sale. Fine mutton is nominally worth 29s per owt, and good beef tallow is quoted at 27s per cwt. j Owing to the absence of a number of Conservative members, among whom was Mr Balfour, many new clauses which they had intended to move upon the Home Rule Bill were struck out. Mr G. Bartley wanted to move them on behalf of the absentees, but the Speaker declined to allow him.
