Manukau.
(from our own correspondent.) Manukau is still progressing. The latest addition to the buildings being a shop and dwelling house which is being erected by Mr N. Anderson on the main -street nearly opposite the Railway Station. When finished it will greatly add to the appearance of the town. A cottage is also being erected by Mr Hart, blacksmith. Several meetings have been held to discuss the advisability of erecting a creamery here, but so far nothing definite has been decided upon. Another meeting is to be held shortly when it is to be hoped the farmers will make up their minds in the matter. The advantages are obvious to all, but each appears to be waiting for the other. A orioket olub has been formed and a start is being made to gat the ground in order. A concert is to be held shortly to raise fund* for turfing
a pitch, etc. A band of young gentlemen are going into active training as darkies, and I have no' doubt when the time comes they will give a good account of themselves. We have actually had a week's fine weathei for which we are duly thankful, and only hope it may last. The State School has increased so much lately that a pupil teacher is to be appointed. We have escaped the measles so far and trust that we may remain equally fortunate.
