Mr Preeoe had a good attendance at his tree sale and the trees were fetching good auction prices. The stock sale -of Messrs Abraham & Williams passed off most successfully though the rain was very heavy. Mr Jackson conducted the sale in his usual pleasant manner, and nearly all the lots were disposed of under the hammer or immediately afterwards. Sheep seemed to have improved in price. The Messrs Strang inform us that they, havo not purchased Mr J. T. Stewart's property at Motoa. Mr Snelson tiad a most successful sale at the Public Hall yesterday, there being a large attendance and spirited bidding. Good prices were^alised and the auctioneer is to be congratulated on the expeditious manner in which he conducted the sale, disposing ot 300. lots between 11 o'clock. and.B o'clock. / '. ' ' , ; ■ ■ Palmgrßton is to be the- happy hunting ground of candidates desirous of entering Parliament Besides Mr Pirani, who is supposed to have obtained the temperance vote, there will be Mr R. Edwards, ths Mayor of the Borough, who will pick up the large numbers who support the Government but dissent to the temperance platform ; then Mr Snelson is the popular town representative of the Opposition, and now Mr Donald Grant, of Manawatu Road Board fame, is also stated to be anxious to serve his country. We would ask our contemporary the West Coast Mail to adopt the usual course of acknowledging the souroe of its clippings. In the two last issues we notice cuttings from our columns but without the. usual courtesy. It is probably an oversight and no doubt will be at once rectified now we have drawn attention to the omission. Messrs Gorton & Son hold a sale of stock at Bulls on Tuesday. The elections for the Wirokino Road Board has resulted in the return of Messrs Davies, Gower, Cassie, Kebbell, and Whyte. There will be Mass at St. Mary's on , Sunday at 11 a.m. and evening service at 6.30.
