In consequence of the Dunedin Workman publishing severe strictures on the characters of the "Gaiety Company." several members, of both sexes, proceeded to the uffice on Monday morning, to demand satisfaction. Nothing satisfactory being forthcoming, 5 female choristers thrashed the editor and printers ' present with whips. They were., ejected to the streets, the door being closed in their faces. They then broke the windows, smashed in , the door, and regaining admission they completely .wrecked the interior of the building. A free fight ensued in the street in the presence of a large crowd, in the course of which Mr Lonnon received- a : .blow on - ttie right eye,' ahd v "one male member of the company had his face cut open. A 1 constable arrived just as the members of this surprise party were leaving, and at the request of the proprietor, four stage hands were 'arrested. They will be brought before the Court to-morrow. It is understood a summons will also be issued against the Company charging them with a breach of the peace.— Press Association.
