English Strikes.
The majority of the Belfast rioters were fined, and a few were sentenced to terms of imprisonment. There is now a full supply of free labour at Hull. An attempt to set fire to a woodyard at midnight tailed. European firms using the port are considering the advisability of carrying their own stevadores and dockers. The dockers intend to take a ballot on the question of continuing the strike. Ben Tillet asserts that the men are unwavering in their determination not to give way.
