English Strikes.
An attempt to set fire to the timber, yard at the Queen's Dock, Hull, by means of petroleum was defeated, as also was an attempt to set fire to a ship at Gooie, on the Ouse, which was being worked by free labourers. Au endeavour was made without avail to dynamite a railway bridge at the moment when a train was passing laden with free labourers. The Shipping Federation is sending 500 free labourers to Liverpool and Hull. The Hull strike is quieting down, though further attempts at incendiarism have been attempted. Bailway companies, fearing outrages, are taking the greatest precautions to protect their lines and bridges.
