The Great Western Colliery at Pontypridd, Wales, has exploded. About 200 miners were entombed, and the engine-house is on fire. One hundred and fifty miners have been rescued Fifty are still entombed. The timber headings are still ablaze. Five bodies have been recovered

The explosion was caused by sparks from the pit engine igniting the gas in the mine.
At the wool sales there ia keen competition for medium and lower classes of wools, but prices for superior sorts are barely maintained owing to the lack of an American demand.
