J. Howard (losec.) rowed T. P. Williams (20sec.) This race proved to be very uninteresting, as the handicap was misplaced, a3 Williams, after getting a good lead, quietly settled down until within twenty yards or so of the winning post, when he put on a spurt, which amply proved that he had been in a boat before. In this round and the next P. Curtis (scratch), had the luck to draw two byes. HRCOXD HOtfXl'. W. Hamer (lOsec.) rowed T. P. Williams (20sec.) This was a comparatively easy win for Williams, the winner keeping, in the smooth water and steei'iug a good course, whilst his oppouent kept too far on the other side of the rivet, and got tlie' full strength of the wind, which was tiot an advantage at the point opposite the roWing-shed. THE FINAL. T. P. Williams (20sec.) rowed P. Curtis (scratch.) In this race more interest was centred, as Williams had already pulled twice, whilst Curtis was fresh for the fi'ay, although it was generally expected that Williams, with his lOsec. start, would not be caught. At the start Curtis lost at least another five seconds, through not bearing the word to ' go.' Williams managed to get a clear lead of about seven lengths, and keeping his former course, was not- caught. Curtis put on a siuirt near the wharf, and lessened the distance between the two boats slightly. The winner on returning to the shed was given a cheer, having rowed in the last two vaces and won them without getting out of the bout. ________________
