Homo Politics.
A caucus of the Conservative Party has determined to obstruct the Government Bills. In the House of Commons, Sir H. Meysey Thompson, member for Handsworth, moved a resolution in favour of bi-metallism Mr E. .W. Beckett, member for Whitley, moved a negative amendment, which was carried by 229 to 148. Mr Gladstone, who took part in the debate, said the Government had no scheme for remedying the divergence in the value of gold and silver. Mr Balfour, Mr Goschen and Sir Henry James voted with the minority, while Mr Chamberlain, Lord Randolph ( hurchill, and members of the anti-Parnell-ite section supported the negative amendment. At a great meeting of 15,000 citi zens, held at Belfast, it was resolved to resist Home Kule if passed. Cheat enthusiasm prevailed, the audience singing the National Anthem.
