A Sensational Case
We hesu 1 (says the Pall Mall Gazette) that there is a probability of sensational law proceedings with reference to the following case : In Milan, in 1874, an Englishman of wealth and position became the father of an illegitimate daughter. The mother married and lived elsewhere, while the child was carefully and liberally educated in Fiance and Itaiy by her father, who represented himself as her guardian, and brought her to live at Littlehampton, unknown to his wife and family. In 1890 his wife died, and within a few months he proposed marriage to the ward, who was also his daughter. The marriage took place privately in Ij ndon, unknown to his friends and relatives. In 1892 a child was born, and in July the mother, then aged IS, learnt the true facts of her relationship. She at once withdrew from the house and took refuge with a clergyman, by whom, we under stand, legal measures are being taken suitable to deal with the case.
