The True Protection.

Nowadays the fiscal policy is always a prominent plank in the platform of every politician, yet it is a wise policy on the part of the consumers to place a tax on the articles which they rlo not make but only consume ? Suppose, for instance, the customs duty is 83 per cent, on imported goods, the wages of the laborer in all grades of employment in a country thus protected, should be 33 per cent, higher than in a freetrade country, to mahe things equalbut ia it ever the case? True protection, like charity, begins at homo, and in these days when the air is laden with microbes, r^bacteria and other germs of disease, it behoves us all to be on guard against the common enemy. Old age kills but few, disease slays its thousands and millions, and all because" mankind is so apathetic and careless about first signs of approaching sickness. Neuralgia is one of the most positive signs of the approach of some physical affliction, and requires immediate attention before it has progressed beyond human aid and fatal disease has got hold of Borne vital organ. J. Flynu, Esq., Arawa, Ohrlstcburoh, writes, It is with areafr pleasure and gratitude I lake my peat to imme ; these few lines, in order that I may give expression to the feelings of thankfulness for the benefit I have derived from the use of Clemenis Tonic. I have been a sufferer for the last eight years, and in that time have tried a number of physicians, and at gveat expense I have secured the opinions of men who were considered sreat authorities, but with no result, for I •ontinually got worse. However they might differ about the treatment of my case, they all agreed that they could do me no good, and stated that / wax in the last ttaae of consumption, awl ra*t rouiiixj to an end On doctors' advice 1 travelled all through the colonies, and consulted medical men as I travelled, but instead of improving got worse, and became destitute of means; and had to return to West Australia, whence I started. This was five years ago, and at that time and ever since I have been completely prostrated and anabW to do any sort of manual labor or in any way to earn a living, and I was so weak and emaciated that J prayed and holed for the end from toeek to week. J have been in many hospitals, and when out of them have tried all sorts of patent medicines without avail. About two months ago I experienced a very severe tarn, and seeing Clements Tonic advertised I deoided to try it (not that I though it would do mo any good, but I was so ill 1 must have something). I have used only two bottles, and can say truthfully ttoat I am now stronger and better than at any time within the last six years, and intend to continue its use. Another man to w hom I recommended Clements Tonic said to me, .» I wish to God I had known of such medicine ten years ago, ■»■ so much good it had done him. You are at liberty to pubJish this if of servioe.
