His remains were brought into the township immediately afterWards and word was sent down to Constable O'Rourkej of Otaki; Brown was well liked by all who knew him. An inquest was held at the Levin .Motel at half past one on Saturday, before Mr W. H. Simcox (Coroner) and the following jury :— Messrs Thompson (foreman), Adkin, Mills, Whiley, Paulson, and Smith. A. Mustley deposed that he was the closest to Brown, and he spoke to him about two minutes before about a crack in a rimu, and hearing a tree fall gave the alarm to his other mates. Going where Brown was he found deceased lying face downwards In the aslies bleeding at the nose and mouth. Brown has two sisters itt Christiania, one being married to the chief magistrate of that city. Martin Nilson and F. Peterson gave corroborative evidence, and the jury gave a verdict of accidentally killed.
