Slips in the ManaWatu Gorge.
■ ♦ As a result of the heavy rain, the Gorge line was blocked by a slip at the mouth of the second tunnel on Thursday The Gorge road is also in a dangerous state at tlie Wbodville and, a portion having, fallen away. The slip in the Gorge road is at the month of the second tunnel from the Ashursfc aids. About a thousand tona of earth partially blocks up the entrance. Twenty men were engaged in removing the debris, and it' is expected that it Will take them ten days to conclude the work. The train from Palmerston stopped a few yards from the slip, and passengers alighted and proceeded half way through! tKe/^ujitfel, the train from the Woodville side picking them up, and ijhe journey thus being continued after a quarter of an hour's delay.
