CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS.
TO TIIE EDMOB OF THE MANAWATC HERALD. Sir,— l suppose the stores and pjnblic offices will follow the usual course when Cbrismasday falls on a Sunday, namely, keep it on Monday, Boxing day on Tuesday. I think cur worthy Mayor should, as Chief Magistrate^ issue a. notice to that "effect, so that the public would know now to act. Please find a corner in your, next issue and oblige. — lam, &0., iNQTOtttK.
TO THE EIUTOi! OF TrtE MA**AWATtf HKRAIjT). Sir, — I am a poor old mare, and by the knd and thoughtful action of our City Fathers allowed to have a nibble of fresh grass along the corner of your streets during the day while of good behaviour. I am white all over, and have a baby at foot, and often feel very dry during these hot days. 1 look at that town pump with its handle, but there's no trough, no bucket, no nothing to hold water where I could quench my thirsty throat. If I had not found out the way to lift the latch of a friendly gate, where a good man lives, and got a drink I do not know i what T would do. I am, «.vc ■ Poop. Hohkk.
