Good Deeds.

A t the meeting of the Wellington hospital Trustees on Tuesday the Po*t reports that the Chairman announced that the Chinese residents of the city had subscribed a sum of £52 16s, and handed it to him to assist the Hospital funds. Ha hoped others would follow their example. Several Trustees concurred. The Chairman also explained that he had received a call from two Indian traders, haiing from Calcutta who had informed him that it was against their religion to receive interest, and as there was some accrued interest upon a Post Office Savings Bank account in their name, the spokesman, Mr Nab-ad-din, asked him to accept it " for the poor Wellington Hospital." This announcement was also received with commendation. (As the Trustees get a subsidy of 24s in the £ upon all voluntary contributions, these two gifts represent an addition of £121 to their funds.)
