Wirokino Road Board.

The monthly meeting of the Wirbkino Road Board was held on Saturday at Levin. Present — Messrs Davieß (Chairman), Kebbell, Gower arid Wallace. The following resolutions were, passed : — Proposed by Warden Wallace, seconded by Warden Kebbell, That the petition of W. G. Gardner and* others to raise a loan for completing a road down the Kahuterawa Valley be complied with, and that the Chairman take the necessary step* to obtain the sum of £300 under the Government Loans to Local Bodies Act. That the Clerk take immediate steps to advertise that the Board proposes to strike a new rate of £d in the £ to provide security for the, new loan for the Tokomaru Valley road being ten per cent oh original loan That the Chairman be instructed to call a public meeting to be held in the Schoolhouse, Shannon, for the purpose of discussing the raising of a loan to put the Shannon Ferry road in good order and repair. Meeting to be on Friday, 9th December. That the Board again take the necessary steps to raise a loan of £500 under the Government Loans to Local Bodies Act for the purpose of metalling the Shannon East road, and that the Chairman take the necessary steps to take a poll for said loan. It was decided to call for tender* for clearing and stumping for a

width of 20ft in the centre of the road line, about 60 chains in length, of Mclntosh's line. For claying the flat on Buckley road. For claying that portion of the Kerern road, west ot the Aratangata- drain ; also that portion of the Tavistock road referred to in the ganger's report ; also for cleaning out Aratangata drain. That the Board's engineer be authorised to give the contractor for the completion of the Tokomaru Valley No. 8 contract, a certificate that the work is complete. It was decided to make a special rate for interest on the £1200 loan. The overseer's services are to be continued. It was decided to make a special district to raise £300 for a road down the Kahuterawa Valley and one to raise £350 for Scott's road. It was decided to take steps to divide Road district into Wards.— M. Times.
