Foxton Cricket Club.

The first match of the' season was played in^ Mi* SianjseUiS paddock on Saturday afternoon between scratch teams, Married V. Single, captained respectively by Kruse and A n^ rews » and resulted in a rather easy, \vin 1 on the -first innings for the Benedicts. Although not a3 many of tlfe old members rolled up as could have been wished, still those present exhibited a very good spirit, and from ,wbat w£3a;^r on! $yifosafc satisfied that noi only will we have a Cricket Club established this season on a sound basis in. Foxton, but that it will be able to give a very good accoun t, of ? itself { when matched against any k 6i^mH > neighbouring clubs. Organization and practice are the two things necessary for success. We are pleased to learn that the management of the club has been placed in the hands of a very capable committee, and we know that there is ample material in the district for "a first-rate club, there being in addition to the local players several worthy repi'esentatives of the " noble game " from Marlborbugh and Nelson. We wish the club all success, and again- : recommend the necessity of regular and steady practice to the members. As an incentive to this we shall be glad to insert from time to time any details of the matches played that may be handed in to us by the Secretary.
