Wirokino Road Board.

A meeting of above was held on Saturday, 15fch instant, at Levin. All the wardens were preseh t. The following resolutions were passed : — That the valuation of £60 be placed in Eate Book on part seotion No. 10, Block 8, Levin, now in occupation of Oscar Andrews. That leave be given to the agent of Bank of New Zealand, Palmerston North, to use the office of this Board for banking purposes one day in the week other than Mondays and Saturdays. That the name of F. R. Linton be placed on the rate roll for section 319, Block 6, Arawaru,. in place of F. E.Burnell; also all names on list marked A and signed by the Chairman this date. That in the matter of the petition of Mr Geoffrey Potts and others for road alterations, the Chairman be requested to make enquiries of the landowners affected. That the Board reply to .Mr Lind, Shannon, stating that , they will allow the same reduction of valuation on sections .621 and 629, viz., £150 as made by the Horowhenua County Council. That the Board are willing to contribute a sum of £25 for draining and culverting on. the Albert road on condition that the settlers interested metal the said road to the satisfaction of the Road Board ganger. Tenders to be in next meeting. I That the Clerk be instructed to prepare a valuatton sheet showing the amount of rateable value of the several parts of the* District as represented by the several wardens. To be in by next meeting of the Board. That notice be given to settlers on the Kingston road, that the Board will furnish the sum of £25 towards the suggested improvements to the said road, provided that the settlers will take eteps to assist with the work in contributing a further sum either in money or labour to complete the necessary repairs. That it be publicly notified that a meeting of ratepayers of the Shannon Road Special District and the Buckley Road Special District be held on the 20th inst at 2 p.m., in the Shannon schoolroom for the Shannon, and 10.30 a.m. for the Buckley road at Mr Richard's house. That the £200 out of loan allocated to the Ohau East road, be redeposited with the Hank of New Zealand at fixed deposit for twelve months. The interest accrued to be paid' into loan account to meet interest on the loan of which it is £ portion; That the tender of n. G. Cameron for the work on the Muhunoa East road at 4s per chain for trimming; and-ls : 6d per .yard for metalling, be. accepted. That the tender of E." Gascoigne for the No 2 Tokomaru Valley road, ajb £20, be also accepted ; and that fresh tenders be called tor the Kereru road work. That the valuation of £150 be placed upon the rate roll for section 5, Block X., Levin, in name of Mrs Catherine Kent. That a special meeting be held at Board's office, Lavin, on Saturday, the 22nd inst.i at 10 80 A.m., to pass the special orders constituting two districts for loan purposes, called the Buckley. Road and Shannon East Road Districts. That the Chairman be -instructed 16 take the necessary steps to constitute a special district comprising those parts of sections 358, 319, 820, 383, Block VI., Arawaru, S D,, that are within the Wirokino Uoad District, for the purpose of obtaining a loan of £350 under " The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886." That the proposal of Messrs Walls and Trask for the erection of a bridge over the Otarau Stream on Plimmer Terrace, Shannon, for the sum of £19 be accepted by the Board, provided the bridge be erected to the satisfaction of the Board's engineer or ganger. — M.
