Meeting at Levin.
At a meeting of ratepayers, Mr John Gower in the ohair held, at Levin on Friday evening the 28rd instant which was very numerously attended, the Temperance Hall being almost filled, the three following resolutions were passed without; amendment and carried unanimously : - 1. This meeting thoroughly endorses the action taken by Mr Stuckey and those working with him in their endeavour to remedy the injustice done to the ratepayers of Levin Block being saddled with a debt of £12,000 in which they had no voice or allocation of monies. 2. that this meeting of Levin ratepayers protest against their being saddled with any part of the loan of £12,000 which, (with the exception of an expenditure for making and metalling sixty chains of road and felling fifty chains of bush by the County Council) has been expended and allocated for the making of roads outside and far distant from the Block, and the further fact that the Wirokino Eoad Board have not spent anything in the making of District roads in the Block, the expense of making such roads having been borne entirely by the Levin sellers themselve with no assistance from any rates. 8. That Mr Gower be requested to forward a copy of these resolutions to the County Council and Wirokino Eoad Board requesting them to endeavour to remedy this injustioe which by a technicality in law they the Levin ratepayers are legally liable.
