PAIAKA v. SHANNON.

The Paiaka and Shannon football teams met for a friendly game on the ground of the former on Saturday last Both before and after the game the Shannon team were most hospitably entertained by Mr and Mrs Gardner. Paiaka won the toss and the ball was kicked off by Keith for Shannon, and being returned it was not long before Newth scored the first try, but no goal resulted. Before many minutes Oswald Gardner with a good drop kick, landed the ball over the gaol. Just before half time D. Gardner got another try, which McArthur converted into a goal. After half time Shannon, though playing a plucky game, could do nothing against the splendid way in which the Paiaka team passed, and trys followed in quick succession, John Wylie two, R. Chancy two, and McArthur one, while James Wylie dropped another gaol, thus leaving the home team winners by 25 points to nil.
