General Yanoff, in a report to the Ameer, complains that the Afghans refused to treat him amicably, but opened fire on his expedition. The Chinese Minister in Berlin has been instructed to proceed to St Petersburg to demand the recall of General Yanoff s expedition. ' The death rate in Russia from cholera continues to be about 800 daily. Hawaii claims Cornwallis Island which was recently reported to have beeu annexed by H.M.S. Champion on behalf of Great Britain, and alleges that the Government never transferred part of Pearl Harbour to a Foreign Power. The Washington Government deny Hawaii's claims to Cornwallis Island, and assert they never owned it.
