Palmerston Hospital Board.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board was held on Thursday, Present— Messrs F. Y. Lethbridge (Chairman), W. G. Haybittle, G. Nye, W. Park, and D. Grant. CORRESPONDENCE. From Mr T. Munro, ons of the Bulls Hospital Trustees, with regard to proposed conference respecting the handing over of the Bulls Hospital funds to the Palmerston Board, stat* ing that he could ■ not see any good .. good would result from such conference," as he was in favor of small local hospitals. From Dr McGregor, Inspector of Hospitals, as follows;— I have a feeling of embarrassment in meddling any further with the matter of the pans for the Palmerston North Hospital. I naturally assumed that my suggestions would be submitted for the consideration of the architect who prepared the plans, and I am not prepared to appear even to help to supersede him. If I were aware of the position of the architect, I would further suggest that the changes might be simplified by either turning the building round bodily or placing the kitchen block on the south front. From same, as follows :— Under the circumstances set forth in your last letter, I think it best to say that I am willing to approve of " Acme's " plan, provided that the male ward be removed from the kitohen block by a space ' of at lsast twice the heighth of the latter, and that the front of the building face the north. Of course, the nurse's room must be placed next the ward, and I think the ward kitchen may be struck out. I shall be prepared to formally sanction the plan as soon as these changes are agreed to/ It was decided to write to Dr McGregor and ask him if he approved of " Acme!s " plan with suggested alterations. From same, with regard to the application for subsidy asking if the items on list of contributions, (t proceeds of concert, &c." were not proceeds. — It was pointed oat that the amounts were all net proceeds. It was decided to make arrangements with the Wanganui Board to transmit this Board s patients to the Wanganui Hospital till the erection,>K of the Palmerston Hospital, and ask on what terms they would take the patients. The Secretary was instructed to write to all the local bodies , in the district asking for a return showing all monies received during the past year for hospital and charitable aid. On resuming after lunch it was resolved on the motion of Mr Haybittle, seconded by Mr Park^ That applications be invited for the position of Clerk to the Hospital and Charitable Aid i oard for the ensuing year at a sa'ary of £25 per annum, such applications to be sent in by next meeting of the Board. Without discussion it was decided on the motion of Mr Grant, seconded by Mr Haybittle, *• That the Borough Council of Palmerston North be written to, requesting that body to fnvnish the Board at once with all particulars re sale of Hospital reserves disposed of by the Council, the particulats to state the number of the sections sold, the price ob- . taiued and the terms upon which ' they were sold, names of buyers, the 1 amount of deposits paid (if any), and if deposits have been paid on 1 sections in question. The Council to hand over the amounts at once to the ■ Board, as well as all documents sup* porting the sale of the sections iX question. : It was resolved by the Board that 1 the bank-book made up to date, be J laid on the Board table at every meeting. The Board then adjourned.— 1 limes,
