An extraordinary oase was heard at Southampton Police Court on Wednesday, A chimney sweep was arrested on a warrant and charged with assaulting the head mistress of the principal hoard school of the ' town. The mistress had refused admission to his children owing to their personal state, whereupon the chimney sweep, highly enraged, went to the school, abused the mistress, and wound up by painting her face with soot' from his brush. The magistrates, who agreed that disfline would be at an end if such laviour was tolerated, fined the defendant 10s and bound hitn over to keep the peace.
