The Cession of Sheik Said.
It Is reported from Berlin that Turkey has ceded to France by treaty the small rooky promontory of Sheik Said, in the south-west of Arabiaopposite the Island of Perim. The Kreuz Zeitung asserts that the cession is due to the Sultan's displeasure at England's reserve in the Egyptian and Dardanelles question. The Kreuz .rfeitung says :— The occupation of Sheik Said by Prance means that England no longer holds absolutely the entranoe to the Red Sea. We consider that by effecting this treaty, France, when allied with Bussia will endanger England's ruling position in the East, The report, however, needs confirmation.
