Education Board.
The monthly meeting of the Education Board was commenced on Monday. Messrs Sanson (in the chair), Bridge, Hurley, and Beckett were present. The following appointments were reported by the Chairman when the Board resumed from CJommitfcee: — Marton. — Mr Flood was appointed head master in accordance ' with the recommendation of the Committee, and his explanation for not having opened on the usual day was accepted. Mosstown. — Mr W. McLean was accepted as master of this school. > Hrunswick.— lt was resolved to send on the name of Fergus Murray •td the Committee, and if more are required the Executive will endeavour to procure them and make arrangements lor keeping the sohool open. Natapu.— Mrs Finlayson was appointed mistress of this sohool. Ashurst — Miss Prendergast was appointed assistant mistress. Foxton. -For the assistantship at this school it was decided to send on Miss Ballantyne's name with any others available. Bata. Mr Rockel was appointed teacher at this school. ' Ratanui.— Mr Sergeant's absence from the teachers' annual examination was allowed, and the Secretary was instructed to apply for a license to teach for him. Re-appointment. — Miss- Helen Phyn having applied for a re-appoint-ment, her name was placed on the list. Karere.— For the vacancy at this school it was resolved to forward the names of Messrs A. W. Wiliamson and A Matheson. Foxton.— A letter was received from the Committee stating that they had selected Mr, Washington Stewart as teacher, and he was accordingly appointed. Upokongaro. For the vacancy at this school it was resolved to send on I the names of Messrs Mason and Innes. Foxton— H was resolved that Miss Ray act as pupil teacher at this school temporarily. Ashurst — Miss M. McGonagle was
appointed to aot as pupil teaoher at ' Asnurst, pending the arrival of 'the assistant. Hawera. — It was decided that Mabel Ashwin should be appointed cadet at Hawera Application.- Mr Brooks'application for a mastership was referred to the Inspeotor. Stoney Creek.— Two letters from this Committee were referred to Messrs Sanson and Fry to report upon, and it was resolved that a vote of thanks be offered to Messrs Newdick, Waugh, Sly and two sons for jiheir exertions in saving the buildings at Stoney Creek during the j late bush fires.. The Board then adjourned until next day. - Chromde.
