OTAKI MAORI RACING CLUB.
The above Club held their annual •ace meeting yesterday. The at* ;endance was not as large as usual, )\ving, no doubt, to the bad state of ho weather. The course was very slippery, and several horses and •iders came to grief both in the mrdle and flat races. The various 2 vents vie&e well contested, and in jnly one event the favourite failed ;o catch the j udge's eye. The follow:ng are the results : - Handicap Hurdles— Mataiwhetu, L ; St. Helier, 2 ; Marmion, 8. Dividend, £2 9s. Maiden Hurdles— Mack, 1 ; Rotokare, 2 ; Oniahu, 3. Dividend, £2 LOs. Cranley Stakes— Hui, 1; Daybreak, 2 ; Kotiro, 8. Dividend, £2 Is. In this, race a calamity occurred, Balmaceda and May Queen fell just before entering the straght. Onslow Cup— Slave Girl, 1 ; Ben Bolt, 2 ; Rahui, 3. This win was very popular amongst the Natives, and the game little mare, was loudly cheered after weighing in. Dividend, £4 2s. Flying Handicap— Hui, 1 ; Baker, 2 ; May Queen, 3. Won very easily. Dividend, £1 9s. Stewards Stakes -Ben Bolt, 1; Rahui, 2 ; St. Helier, 3. Dividend, £1 17s. Forced Handicap— Daybreak, 1 : Waikawa, 2; Baker, 3. Dividend, £1 9s. !
