London. The cavalry barracks at Canterbury have been destroyed by fire. The damage is estimated at £10,000. Gisborne Harbour stock has fallen £2, and Otago Harbour Board £1. It is reported that Commander Herbert Maxwell will succeed Lord Onslow as Governor of Now Zealand.
