See-Saw.
There is a better demand for New
Zealand hemp, at full rates, the cablegrams assert. Less than a fortnight ago this article was dull of sale, and continually drooping! Implicit confidence as to market : rates cannot be placed in cablegrams . received, though the hemp-millers are constantly assured that their interests are earnestly studied. Experience does not make many hempmillers wise, as last year, before the rise commenced, there was an unfor- : tunate decline, during which long ■ orders were booked, and very shortly 1 after the sellers had the mournful 1 satisfaction of learning, as now, that there was a better demand, and at ' full rates. W«e do not desire to say • that anybody is to blame, except tbe 1 hemp-millers themselves, who long before now would have recouped themselves, over and over again, tor 1 the first cost of an independent i agency and advice. It is not yet too late.
