The Revolt in Gaute Mala.
The revolt in Guatemala was suporessed after three days' fighting. President Barillas has declared himself Dictator. The revolt in Guatemala occurred on September 16th on the occasion of the national holiday. Orators who were addressing the people were chased and stoned, and cries were raised of " Down with Barillas and Government tyranny. Violent speeches were made by hhe leaders of the mob until a battalion of infantry arrived and- , charged with fixed bayonets. A battle ensued, the mob using re-* volvers. Artillery joined the infantry, and street fighting went on for three days, each party alternately having control of the city. A reign of terror ensued, but after 500 people had been killed, troops came in from the provinces and restored -the suoremacy of the Government. Quezzalienago at latest advices had revolted, 1000 men were supporting the leaders. It is reported the Government of Salvador is moving a corps to the frontier, and proposes to h>vade Guatemala in the event of the revolt spreading.
