Fire at Palmerston.

At three o'clock this morning another disnslrous fire swept one side of the Square. Flames were first noticed issuing from the furniture shop of Messrs Siinmonds and Pegdon, nnd from which the fire extended up to the Occidental Hotel, and within two buildings of Mr Sne'son's auction mart. No idea hns been formed .".s to the cause of the outbreak. Not a single article has been saved. The heat was intense, and the flames from the burning hotel swept across the street and sevpre'y scorched the Tank of New Zealand.

The buildings destroyed are : — The Occidenta' hotel, Hodgson's tinware store, George's draper shop, Ireland iV: Cos., grocery store and Simmonds & Peg'on's furniture warehouse.
