Certain -amendments were proposed in the Land and Income Bill by message? from His Excellency the Governor. The Premier, in moving that the amendments be agreed to, explained that they were made with the oljoct of enabling assessments to ba made before April next, which was not clearly set forth by the Bill. The amendments were agreed to on the voices. The Premier, in moving the second reading of th.a Legislative Council Bill, said ib was tho first Reform Bill which had boon pa.-od in the"* other branch of the Legislature, and had come from that House to this. Bill. — Only verbal amendments were made, and the measure was then read a third time and passed. The TTouse went 'into, committee on the Coal Mines Bill. Progress was immediately reported. The House rose at 12.30. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2. The Hon the Speaker took the chair at 2.80 p.m. Tho Electoral Bill was further considered in committee. The House rose at 1.45. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 8. The Speaker took tho chair at 2.80. The Wellington Botanic Gardens Bill was read a third time and passed. The Female Suffrage Bill was read a third time and passed. In committee it was amended so as to come into force on the* Ist June 1893 ; and to give women a right to be elected as members and to sit in the House.
