» HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. TUESDAY, JULY 28. The House met at 2.30 p.m. The New Zealand Bank Bill was read a third time and passed; The Wellington Electric Lighting^ Bill was shelved, the amendment moved by Mr Macdonald, " That the Bill be re committed to the former Committee, and the *■» ct should not come into force unless within three months after it was passed the citizens of Wellington had expressed their approval of it in public meeting, that it be submitted to a poll of the ratepayers, and that the Bill be sent back to the Committee to be amended accordingly," having been carried by 82 to 28. The Christchuroh Electric Lighting Bill was further considered and i the amendments proposed by. the ' Select Committee were agreed to. At the Evening Sitting the Minister of Justice proposed that the Truck Mil he considered in committee. Mr Moore opposed the motion saying that he thought hon. members should first have an opportunity of discussing the measure. He looked upon it as one of those pernicious . Bills which would do more harm t6 the men themselves than the eihployers. fhe Hon. Mr Rolleston said there was mutuality between employ /JWfi-d employed provided by \ the Bill. ' The motion was agreed to. •The House went into Committee on the Shop Hours Bill, and the Employer's Liability Bill. The Shop Hours Bill was reported and the House rose at 8. 10 a.m.
