Kereru.
(from our own correspondent.) The wet weather of last week causod the roads to be so wet and muddy that they were almost impassab'e until the water had dried up and left the holes visible. The short piece of the county road through the bush behind the Levin station is in a dreadful state. One settler, whose residence was completed a short time ago, has just bro'ight his bride home ; and four others, whose houses are now in course of erection are to be married within the next two months ; so ii marriages in a place show progression Kereru. ought to be going aheac 1 . Mr Fleming, the assistant-in-spector, examined the school lately, and reported that the work was highly satisfactory. All the children presented, passed, and the class work was good considering the short time the school has been opeued. Last Wednesday the Board granted £15 to line the schoolroom. The Palmerston doctors get all the work along this line. On Thursday Dr Mclntyre was sent for to attend the wife of a settler here. She is now progressing favoui'ably. One would think there was room for a doctor in Foxton.
