Spurling's London circular of the 18th April reports : — Since my last advices of the 21st ultimo our New Zealand hemp market, in sympathy Avith those of manila and Mauritius hemps, has been dull and depressed, prices continuing to droop despite the small quantities brought forward at auction during the past three weeks. As compared with the currencies of last month, a decline has been established on middling, barely fair, fair, and good qualities of 30s to 40s per ton. Fina continues to be held firmly. At present however, there is but little of this description available for sale. Arrivals have been unusually heavy since the date of my last advices, of 21st ulto, comprising a total of 7165 bales by the following . ships : — Kenmore, Miltiades, Orari, Halcione, Tongario, Eangatira, Strathgryfe, Zealandia, Alcyone. Of these 2274 bales are for transhipment to America; leaving 4891 bales, or (at B£cwt each bale) about 795 tons to be added to our stocks at the end of March last. The quantities of

New Zealand brought to auction on the 26th ulfco the Bth and 15th inst have been only 2787 bales, and of these, at, and since sales, about 1200 bales have been placed.
