Primitive Methodist Church, Foxton.

■'- • ■ ■■— » ' • (Communicated) The quarterly meeting in connection with this Church was held yesterday afternoon at the house of Mr Gibson when there was a good attendance. All the places in the circuit were represented, including Mr Ashby for Moutoa and Mr Kirby for Shannon. After going through the ordinary routine of business, and reviewing the work of the past quarter and making the necessary arrangements for further carrying on the good work, the meeting decided to report the circuit as prosperous in every way. In the evening the usual quarterly tea meeting was held in the Churoh when a larger number gathered together than usual, indeed it was a great tax upon the lady caterers to provide sufficient of the good things to satisfy the wants of the people, (not expecting so many). After the tables were cleared a public meeting was held, presided over by Mr J. W. Gower, who, in his usual free and affable manner gave a very stirring address, the subject being " Courage." Mrßobi McLean the Circuit Steward was then called upon for his Financial Report which was given in a very lucid and clear manner and was received wjtlj£ great applause, the income for t&Qiuarter being f4B Is 4d and the expenditure £45 7s sd, leaving ar : predit balance in the hands of the Treasurer of 14s. Considering he started the quarter with a debit balance of £7, this was considered very good indeed. Addresses were also given by Mr Raine the Minister, Mr Ashby, Moutoa, and Mr Westwood which were interluded with sacred songs rendered by the choir in a very creditable manner. Mr Coe of Wellington kindly presided at the organ with great efficiency. After the usual votes of thanks, the Benediction was pronounced and so brought to a close one of the best quartely meetings ever held in connection with this Church both financially and spirit* i ually.
