The Chilian Revolt.

« There has been some little manoeuvring on tke part of the Chilian rebel steamers and the United States men-of-war. When the Chilian rebel steamer Itate ran away with the United States Marshal, it was from the port ot San Diego, the most Southern port of California, and after landing the marshall lower down the coast she should have made away to the Chilian coast in South America. To catch her the United States cruisers Charleston and Baltimore and San Francisco were ordered to leave San Francisco. Our latest news informs us that at the port of Acapulco in Mexico, 2200 miles south of San Francisco, two of the United States vessels have put in there, as well as the rebel steamer Esmeralda, which is supposed to be anxious to escort the Itata. This is a friendly little party, but where is the Itata ? If the United States cruisers had '500 miles further to steam, and had a day's delay, and have reached Acapulco, why could not the Itata ? We should not be surprised to find that the Esmeralda has been employed simply to draw off the pursuit of the Itata, as the Americans can do nothing to her, as it was only the Itata that committed a breach of the neutrality laws. It might, as there is business mit, have been just as the American's desired, to make a fine show but to effect nothing. The Itata will be heard of acting against the Chilian Government before many days.
