Census Returns.
From information supplied by the i jensus enumerator we find the popula* j iion of the district betwaen Wangaehu \ md Waikanai rivers to be as foltows: —
Total .. 21,516 17,090 4,422 * Excluding the returns for the sub-district of Wirikino, which are not yet in. These are expected to amount to more than 500, giving a total for the whole of the • four counties of about 22,000, or an increase of 6,000 since 1886.
